About TrendWars

Trade the Internet. Profit from Chaos.

What is TrendWars?

TrendWars is a free-to-play virtual stock market built around the internet itself. Instead of trading shares in companies, you trade shares in viral trends — Reddit posts blowing up, YouTube videos going viral, Google search spikes, Twitter topics dominating the conversation, TikTok hashtags going viral, and memes catalogued on Know Your Meme.

Every trend on TrendWars is a real thing happening online right now. When a topic gets hot, its price goes up. When the hype fades, its price falls. Your job is to spot what's rising before everyone else does — and sell before it crashes.

How It Works

1️⃣
Start with T$1,000

Every new account gets T$1,000 in Trend Dollars — our virtual currency. It's completely free, no credit card needed.

2️⃣
Browse the Exchange

The Exchange lists every active trend pulled from Reddit, YouTube, Google Trends, Twitter, TikTok, and Know Your Meme. You can search, filter by source, and sort by price, momentum, or market cap.

3️⃣
Go Long — Buy Shares in Trends

Pick a trend you think is about to get bigger and buy shares (go long). Each share represents a piece of that trend's market value. You can buy as few or as many as your balance allows. Sell later at a higher price to pocket the difference.

4️⃣
Go Short — Bet Against Overhyped Trends

Think a trend has already peaked? Short it. You pay collateral upfront and profit when the price falls. Close your short (cover) at a lower price to collect the difference. Your maximum loss is limited to your collateral — you can never go into debt.

5️⃣
Prices Update in Real Time

Our spiders continuously scan the internet for fresh data. Prices recalculate every 15 minutes based on how much buzz a trend is generating online. A rising trend gets expensive fast — don't wait too long to open or close your position.

6️⃣
Sell, Cover & Climb the Ranks

Lock in profits by selling your longs at the top, or covering your shorts when the price drops. Trends can go "dead" — dead trends are auto-delisted and all positions are closed at the death price. Your total portfolio value determines your rank.

Long vs Short: What's the Difference?

↑ Going Long

You believe the trend will get bigger. You buy shares at the current price. If the price rises, you sell for a profit. If it falls, you take a loss.

Profit = (sell price − buy price) × shares

↓ Going Short

You believe the trend is overvalued. You pay collateral equal to entry price × shares. When you cover, you receive back up to 2× your entry — more profit the lower the price falls.

Profit = (entry price − close price) × shares
Max loss = collateral (price cannot drop you into debt)

Where Do Trends Come From?

TrendWars automatically discovers and tracks trending topics from six major sources:

🟠
Reddit

Posts from r/popular and r/all — the front page of the internet. If it's viral on Reddit, it's on TrendWars.

🔴
YouTube

Top trending videos in the US. When a video blows up overnight, it shows up here.

🔵
Google Trends & Wikipedia

Breakout search terms from Google Trends and the most-visited Wikipedia pages of the day.

🐦
Twitter / X

US trending topics on X, updated regularly to catch the fastest-moving conversations.

🎵
TikTok

Trending hashtags from TikTok — the world's fastest-moving content platform. Catch trends before they cross over.

🧠
Know Your Meme

Trending and confirmed memes from the internet's meme encyclopedia. Culture moves fast — trade it.

Achievements

TrendWars rewards you for how you play, not just how much money you make. Earn achievements for hitting trading milestones, building wealth, referring friends, surviving market crashes, and more. Each achievement is a permanent badge on your account — and yes, even going bankrupt earns you one.

Transaction Fees

A 1.5% transaction fee (minimum T$3) applies to every trade — buying, selling, opening a short, and covering a short. Fees are deducted at the time of the trade: added to the cost on buys and shorts, subtracted from proceeds on sells and covers. Plan your trades accordingly — frequent small trades will eat into your profits faster than fewer larger ones.

What Happens If I Run Out of Money?

If your total account value (cash + portfolio) drops below the price of the cheapest available stock, you can declare bankruptcy. This resets your account back to the starting balance of T$1,000, clears your holdings and history, and grants a bankruptcy achievement. It's a fresh start — use it wisely.

Important: Virtual Currency Only

TrendWars is a game. Trend Dollars (T$) are a virtual currency with no real-world monetary value. Nothing on this site constitutes financial advice, investment advice, or encouragement to trade real assets. All prices, trades, and portfolio values are simulated and for entertainment purposes only.
